  1. オーダーメイド
  2. グーの音

I’m not particularly fond of punk, or pop-punk for that matter, but a band that I’m pretty fond of is RADWIMPS. Although that’s largely because the songs I’ve heard of, and liked, have leaned more towards the pop side. But even their more punked-out songs I’ve grown to like simply because the lyrics — although I don’t exactly agree with their grammar — are so catchy.

That’s mainly the reason why I’m drawing attention to this single which released back in January. At first listen, I thought the first track, “オーダーメイド” (“Order Made”), was pretty nice in its smooth and mellow ways and kept it on my playlist, but the second track, “グーの音”, I found too noisy and tucked it away somewhere. But today I stumbled on it again by accident and it’s pretty much been my soundtrack of the day.

“グーの音” is entirely in English, and yes, it’s at times incomprehensible both auditorily and grammatically, but it’s nonetheless catchy and energetic. I especially love the irony in the line “my lyrics gone so far and now that no one understand.” How true.

Check out the lyrics for yourself, listen to some other tracks on their Myspace, or watch the PV for the title track after the jump.
